these are our first reccie shots so they are not all that good but they helped us decide where to shoot our film opening and we got different camera shots of various places. Prliminary excercise
this was our first video for our preliminary excercise. our task was to make a video with someone walking, opening a door, talking to someone. we had to show match on action when opening the door. and also use the 180 degree rule.

Film Openings
The start of the film shows the Warner Bros logo. This shows that they are presenters of the film. At the start of the clip there is a close up of the three men in the car. Also there are a couple more close ups during the operning. There is also a establishing wide shot of the three men before they open the boot of the car. Also before they open the boot there is a two shot of two of the men standing together.

Code and Conventions
The codes and conventions in media can be separated into 3 distinct groups -
- Technical (camera techniques & shots),
- Symbolic (ie clothing, colours)
- Written and audio (music etc).
These give the text meaning and determine the response of the viewer. They can be used as a basis for simple text analysis.
In movie openings you will always have the production logos and distribution logos
Of the main companies that work on the movie.
Generally the opening shot of a film will be either an establishing shot or a blankscreen with titles on. These title screens can also be a way of building up suspense and also giving away the genre of the movie to the audience.
The opening of the movie scream has codes and conventions because the title is in red to enphasis blood also sirens ring and a heartbeat plays over the film opening, because of this you can automatically see that it is a horror film. finally the purpose of film openings is to set the seen to tell you what genre the film is and give a clue what its about.

Continuity
Continuity is consistency of the characteristics of persons, plot, objects, places and events seen by the reader or viewer over some period of time. It is of relevance to several media.Continuity is particularly a concern in the production of film and television due to the difficulty of rectifying an error in continuity after shooting has wrapped up. It also applies to other art forms, including novels, comics, anime, videogames and animation, though usually on a smaller scale.
Shot/Reverse shot
Match On Action
Match on action means when something happens in a scene then when there is a cut the same peice of action must be going on. This is an example of continuity editing and is very important in helping the audience continually understand exactly what is happening.
180 Degree Rule
The 180° rule is a basic guideline that states that two characters in the same scene should always have the same left and right relationship to each other. If the camera passes over the imaginary line connecting the two characters, it is called crossing the line. If you do this you have to show it. The new shot, from the opposite side, is known as a reverse angle.
